For Our Teaching Candidates

Teacher Qualifications & Expectations As an academically rigorous school, CPA seeks teachers who are masters of their subject matter and proficient in the art of education.

  • Degree Requirements: All teachers must hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: While we have waived the formal CDE certification requirement for most positions to allow for diverse professional backgrounds, we highly prefer candidates with a Colorado Department of Education license or those currently in an Alternative Licensing program.

  • Professional Growth: Teachers hired without a license are encouraged and supported in working toward certification.

  • Special Education: Per state law, our Special Education teachers are required to meet all current Colorado Department of Education certification requirements.

  • The “CPA Profile”: We look for “student-centered” educators who demonstrate proficiency through classroom experience, pedagogical training, and a commitment to research-based instructional practices.

Q: How is salary determined for new hires? A: We use established scales based on market analysis. We honor years of prior teaching experience for initial placement, ensuring that veteran educators are compensated fairly for the wisdom they bring to our halls.

Q: Are CPA teachers members of a union? A: No. Our teachers work at CPA because they are philosophically aligned with our mission and vision. This direct relationship between staff and administration fosters our famous “doors open” collaborative culture.

Q: What is the “vibe” of the staff culture? A: It is a culture of stability and mentorship. With a staff longevity average of over 9 years, you aren’t just joining a workplace; you are joining a family of experts who share the common goal of making CPA the best possible place for families and students.
