This week’s “Recipe for Success” tip: Practice the commutative property.  To sum it up, the commutative property states that numbers can be added or multiplied in any order and still get the same answer.  For example, if your child knows that 2+4=6, then he/she should know that 4+2=6.  Once this is mastered, this helps build automaticity necessary for higher levels of math.  Keep practicing!

Fall break is this week!  As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL for students on Thursday, October 17th, Friday, October 18th, or Monday, October 21st.  Students return to school on Tuesday, October 22nd and 1st quarter report cards will be sent home that day.  Have a great fall break!

Van Gogh School Photography will be here this Wednesday, October 16th for picture retakes and class pictures.  If your student was absent on the original picture day, he/she will be photographed for a school ID.  If you would like your child to have a retake, please return your original photo package to the school in exchange for the retake.  Class pictures will be taken outside weather permitting.  All students must be in regular CPA uniform for pictures!   Pre-order your pictures HERE, click on Before Picture Day, and enter our school code: 30032414.  Any paper order forms should be turned in to Van Gogh on picture day.  Please contact the front office with any questions.

As the first quarter has ended, we want to thank all of our VOLUNTEERS for their hard work at board meetings, PTA meetings, school events and activities, in the classroom, and on field trips.  We have also had several very successful brown bag pick ups.  A huge THANK YOU to all of you.  As a reminder, families are asked to complete 60 hours of volunteer time over the course of the school year.  If you purchased jeans for your student, 20 hours will be added to your total.  As a school, we have logged 3,512 hours this year!   If you have hours to submit or any questions, please send an email to volunteer@crownpointeacademy.org or fill out the online volunteer form HERE.  Thank you again!

¡Las vacaciones de otoño son esta semana!  Como recordatorio, NO HAY CLASES para los estudiantes el jueves 17 de octubre, viernes 18 de octubre o lunes 21 de octubre.  Los estudiantes regresan a la escuela el martes 22 de octubre y las boletas de calificaciones del primer trimestre se enviarán a casa ese día.  ¡Que tengas unas buenas vacaciones de otoño!

La fotografía de la escuela Van Gogh estará aquí este miércoles 16 de octubre para volver a tomar fotografías y fotografías de clase.  Si su estudiante estuvo ausente el día de la fotografía original, se le fotografiará para obtener una identificación escolar.  Si desea que su hijo tenga una nueva toma, devuelva su paquete de fotografías original a la escuela a cambio de la nueva toma.  Las fotografías de clase se tomarán afuera si el clima lo permite.  ¡Todos los estudiantes deben usar el uniforme regular de CPA para las fotografías!   Reserva tus fotos AQUÍ, haz clic en Antes del día de la fotografía e ingresa nuestro código escolar: 30032414. Cualquier formulario de pedido en papel debe entregarse a Van Gogh el día de la fotografía.  Comuníquese con la oficina principal si tiene alguna pregunta.
