Let’s talk about literacy! What is phonics? Phonics is the study of the relationships between letters and the sounds they represent. Understanding phonics is the foundation for becoming a confident reader. Check out this week’s slides and videos from the Colorado Department of Education on how you can support phonics skills at home using junk mail! 2nd quarter progress reports were sent home with all students today. Please be sure you ask your child for his/her progress report, and contact the teachers with any questions.
Thank you to everyone who supported our annual Food Drive! We collected hundreds of items that will support 17 CPA families and the Growing Home food pantry! The first place class that collected the most items was Mrs. Boling’s 4th grade, second place was Mr. Gonzalez’s 7B, and third place was Ms. Carpenter’s 2nd grade. Great work everyone!
The remainder of the semester is a very busy and exciting time at CPA! Check out the Upcoming Events flyer with important dates, and be sure you’re reading each email blast and classroom newsletter entirely so that you don’t miss out on any of the fun.
Battle of the Books is coming to CPA! Battle of the Books is a reading competition for students in 3rd-8th grades. Students read set books and come together in teams to demonstrate their knowledge of the books read. Paula Worley and Megan Christianson will be hosting an informational meeting for parents and students on Wednesday, December 3rd at 4:00 for anyone who is interested in learning more about Battle of the Books! Contact Mrs. Christianson or Mrs. Worley with any questions.
The CPA yearbook is looking for pictures from this school year to help make this year’s book great! If you have any pictures from class events, field trips, Back to School, etc., please email them to yearbook@
Save the date! Family Night is coming up on Thursday, December 4th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Join us for FREE DINNER, a raffle, math and reading games, and important information for parents. An RSVP is required for this event, so sign up now! See the flyer sent home in last week’s Monday Folder or on the CPA website for details and the link to RSVP. Contact Mr. Chesser with any questions.
Next week is Thanksgiving Break. There is no school Monday, November 24th-Friday, November 28th. Students return from break on Monday, December 1st.
In this season of gratitude, we would like to wish all CPA families a very happy and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday. We hope this time offers a chance to relax, reflect, and enjoy quality time together. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful for you!

¡La Batalla de los Libros llega a CPA! La Batalla de los Libros es una competencia de lectura para estudiantes de 3.º a 8.º grado. Los estudiantes leen libros seleccionados y se reúnen en equipos para demostrar su conocimiento de las lecturas. Paula Worley y Megan Christianson ofrecerán una reunión informativa para padres y estudiantes el miércoles 3 de diciembre a las 4:00 p. m. para quienes estén interesados en saber más sobre la Batalla de los Libros. La próxima semana son las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias. No habrá clases del lunes 24 al viernes 28 de noviembre. Los alumnos regresan de las vacaciones el lunes 1 de diciembre.
