Fall break is this week.  As a reminder, there is no school for students on Thursday, October 18th, Friday, October 19th, or Monday, October 22nd. Save the date!  The Harvest Festival, sponsored by the CPA-PTA, is coming up on Saturday, October 27th from 2:00-6:00 p.m.  Join us for carnival games,  pumpkin decorating, bake sale, photo booth, haunted hallway, and other harvest fun!  See the flyers on the CPA website for more information. Make sure you check out this week’s Update for information about an important safety drill coming up next week. The end of the first quarter is this Friday, October 12th.  If you have any outstanding fines or fees, please clear them up at the office as soon as possible. Members of Girl Scout Troop 1359 are holding a drive for care packages for children in foster care, and they are seeking donations of the following: soap, shampoo and conditioner, tooth paste and tooth brushes, hair brushes, hair ties, books, notebooks, pencils/pens, backpacks, etc.  The drive will run through November 1st.  If you have items to donate, please bring them in and leave them in one of the bins in the halls at CPA.  See the flyer on the CPA website for more information. Parent-Teacher Conferences are this Thursday, October 4th from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday, October 5th from 11:00-7:00 p.m.  Elementary parents must sign up for their conference time by clicking here.  Middle school conferences are held on a drop in, first come, first served basis.  For more information on conferences for both elementary and middle school, please see the letters on the CPA website. The CPA-PTA would love your help in providing meals for the teachers and staff during conferences.  If you are willing to bring an item, please complete the form on the CPA website and return it to the school, or sign up online by clicking here. The Destination Imagination Kick Off meeting is tomorrow, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the CPA library.  See the flyer on the CPA website for more information about this great opportunity for students at all grade levels. Our Mission: The mission of Crown Pointe Academy is to promote creativity, curiosity, character, and community in a challenging Core Knowledge environment. We hope that everyone had a great weekend! Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25th, is our Chick-fil-a Spirit Night fundraiser from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the 104th and Federal location.  Chick-fil-a will give up to 20% of proceeds from CPA’s sales back to our school.  Be sure you tell the cashier inside or at the drive thru that you are with CPA so that we receive credit!  Students who dine in should check in at the welcome table.  The class with the highest participation will win a Chick-fil-a party at school.  All funds raised will go to the CPA Drama Club and this year’s production of The Jungle Book.   It’s spirit week at Crown Pointe Academy!  All students are invited to participate in the following fun theme days: Tuesday, September 25th: Crazy hair/hat day.  Students may do their hair in a crazy way or wear a crazy hat to school. Wednesday, September 26th: Pajama Day.  Students may wear their favorite pajamas to school.  Make sure you follow the non-uniform guidelines and that all clothing is school-appropriate. Thursday, September 27th: Mis-Match Day.  Students may wear mis-matched clothing to school.  Make sure you follow the non-uniform guidelines and that all clothing is school-appropriate. Friday, September 28th: Super Hero Day.  Students may dress like their favorite super hero or character.  No masks or face paint please!  Jeans are allowed for all students. If students choose not to participate in the theme days, they should wear their regular uniform to school. To wrap up our spirit week, the CPA-PTA is hosting the Back to School picnic this Friday, September 28th from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  PTA will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks.  All families are asked to bring a side dish.  Please see the flyer on the CPA website for more information.  This is a family event– all students must be accompanied by an adult. The deadline to pay for jeans is this Friday, September 28th.  If you would like to purchase jeans for your student for the year, please bring your $30.00 payment to the front office.  All funds raised go towards the Spanish Trip fundraiser. To celebrate the Denver Broncos season opener next Sunday, this Friday, September 7th is ORANGE FRIDAY!  Students may wear solid orange or blue shirts or Denver Broncos shirts to school on Friday. Please join us!  The first PTA meeting for the year is this Thursday, September 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the CPA library, and everyone is encouraged to attend!  Meet other CPA families and staff and learn about the many ways you can be involved at CPA this year.  We hope to see you there! The first Building Accountability Advisory Committee (BAAC) meeting is next Wednesday, September 12th at 4:30 in the CPA library, and we are looking for new members!  The BAAC is responsible for reviewing CPA’s academic performance, programming, finances, and safety and making recommendations to the Academy Board.  If you’re interested in joining this important committee, please join us next Wednesday.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Ouweneel or Mrs. Keyes. This is a reminder to complete and return the 2018-2019 application for Free or Reduced-priced school meals as soon as possible.  Applications must be completed annually.  If your student was eligible last year but you have not applied this year, that eligibility will expire on September 27th.  Even if your student does not participate in the meal program, if you think you may qualify for benefits, student eligibility does help support the meal program as well as potential funding for other school programming.  You can apply for the meal program benefits online at here or pick up an application at the school office. It’s hard to believe we have already reached the end of another school year.  Thank you for making this year a great success.  We wish all families a safe and happy summer! Do you want to avoid the rush of purchasing school supplies before school starts in August?  You can order a school supply kit specific to your student’s grade and school supply list, and it will be delivered to the school in August!  Click here:  1st Day School Supply Kit  and follow the steps to order your kit.  The deadline to order is June 15th.  See the flyer for more information, and contact the office with any questions. We still have 9 copies of this year’s standard yearbook available for purchase at the front office.  Each book is $16.50, and they are available on a first come, first served basis.
