(Para espanol desplazar hacia abajo): Our Mission: The mission of Crown Pointe Academy is to promote creativity, curiosity, character, and community in a challenging Core Knowledge environment. After careful consideration, the Academy Board and CPA administration has decided that in-person classes will NOT resume this school year.  Students will be expected to continue with online learning through May 21, 2020.  Please know that this was not the outcome we were hoping for, and we realize that this presents many unanswered questions.  We will communicate any decisions around upcoming events (8th grade Continuation, Kindergarten Graduation, summer school, student supply and personal item pick up, etc.) as more information becomes available. As online learning continues, there are many resources available for parents and families: Our partners at the Colorado League of Charter Schools are hosting a series of webinars for parents on distance learning, which can be found HERE. Food pick up is still available through your geographic school district.  Westminster Public Schools’ food pick up information can be found HERE. If you have other questions or needs that the school can help with, please let us know by emailing your student’s teacher. The CPA-PTA would like to do something a little different this year for Staff Appreciation Week.  We would like to make a video for the staff.  Here’s what we’re requesting from you: Have your children make cards for the staff or take a photo of your children doing their online learning. Take a photo or video of your child with the card or of the card itself. Send your photos or videos to PTA@crownpointeacademy.org or text it to Jesika Hardman, PTA president, at (303)250-0704.  Be sure to note that it’s for Staff Appreciation Week. The Academy Board is seeking candidates to fill two open spaces on the Board starting July 1st.  If you are interested in running for the Academy Board, please complete the Declaration of Candidacy form and submit it to Board Vice President, Cindy McNeal, at cindy.mcneal@crownpointeacademy.org.  Declaration of Candidacy forms are available on the CPA website and must be returned no later than Friday, April 17th. Monday Folder 4.6.2020

(Para espanol desplazar hacia abajo): Our Mission: The mission of Crown Pointe Academy is to promote creativity, curiosity, character, and community in a challenging Core Knowledge environment. A special message from Mr. Ouweneel: Amazingly, it’s only been two school weeks since classes were cancelled (one week was spring break), but it feels like a lifetime ago.  As we struggle to get through all of this, it occurs to me just how much we take for granted. Activities like going to the movies, watching sports, or just eating out are now on hold.   For us to get through this, we have to pause those things for a while in order to save as many lives as possible.  So we’ll adapt, and that means each day is its own thing. Since we can’t look too far into the future, it’s now more important than ever to treat each day as unique and special.  Routines are thrown into chaos and it’s hard to find things to anchor to.  Having activities that are normal-ish, like school, are key in helping kids have a sense of belonging and purpose. When we started planning for an online learning environment, we established a few goals; we wanted it to be engaging, encouraging, and build a sense of community while at the same time being both academic and fun.  The staff has worked hard to create that environment in a very short period of time.   We knew there would be issues (and there have been a few), but the goals were too important. We wanted kids to feel like they had a place they belonged—even if it was a virtual one. So while you are keeping your family safe, we will continue to support you and your children in their learning and development as best we can.  This is all brand new to us too.  If you have needs, questions, or thoughts, please share them with us.  We want to be better at this so when things do return to normal, kids feel like the adults were there for them through it all. Monday Email Blast:  Today marks the start of our second week of online learning.  We heard from many that each day got a little easier last week as students, parents, and teachers got the hang of things, and we hope that trend will continue this week.  If you have any questions, email your student’s teacher first, but know that Mr. O and Mrs. Keyes are available by email if you need help. Last week, Governor Jared Polis announced that schools would remain closed through April 30th.  Shortly thereafter, many metro-area superintendents announced that in person classes would not resume this school year. ...

March 27, Update and Online Learning Plan (English and Spanish)

March 27, 2020 Dear Crown Pointe Academy Parents and Guardians, The online learning plan for all CPA students will start on Monday, March 30th using Google Classroom.  Grade level Google Classrooms will be set up as follows: Grades K-4 will have one shared Google Classroom for each grade where all content will be posted.  This includes work from your students homeroom teachers as well as specials teachers. Grade 5 will have to separate classrooms– one for Mrs. Hardy’s class and one for Ms. Wetmore’s class.  Content will also be posted from specials teachers. Middle school teachers will continue to have separate Google Classrooms, so students will have to check each classroom daily. Watch for an email from your student’s teacher on how to access the Google Classroom.  If you have any questions about how to use Google Classroom, please contact your student’s teacher directly. Once you have accessed your student’s Google Classroom(s), here’s how the online learning plan will work: Content will be posted by teachers daily (Monday-Friday) starting Monday, March 30th at 9:00. Your student does NOT have to sign in at any particular time to complete work, but your student should be signing in everyday. Teachers will be holding daily office hours where they will be available to answer questions and interact with students.  This will be done through Google Hangouts and accessed through the Google Classroom. Assignments posted to Google Classroom should be turned in using Google Classroom.  Work returned from students in grades K-2 will not be recorded for grades, but work from students in grades 3-8 will be counted as grades for 4th quarter. Some grades have decided to offer paper packets, assignments, classroom materials, or novels to students.  If your student’s teacher indicates that there are items to pick up, the front vestibule of the school will be open for pick up Monday-Thursday next week from 10:00-2:00.  Stop by whenever it is convenient for you to do so. These items are for PICK UP only.  Nothing should be returned to the school.  To turn in paper assignments, please take a picture of the completed work and email it to your student’s teacher. The CPA staff has been working hard to be ready to roll out this online learning plan on Monday, but we expect that there will be hiccups or bumps in the road.  Please direct all questions to your student’s teacher, and we will work together to resolve any issues.  Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility.  Your support helps to make this unsettling and unpredictable situation more bearable. We wish you continued health and wellness, The CPA Staff   March 27, 2020 (Para espanol desplazar hacia abajo): Estimados...

March 19, Update to Parents (English and Spanish)

March 19, 2020 Dear Crown Pointe Academy Parents and Guardians, In order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Colorado, yesterday Governor Jared Polis ordered that all public and private schools in Colorado suspend in-person classes through April 17th. We are currently in the process of formalizing our online learning plan for students while school is not in session. Online learning will begin on March 30th, which is when school would regularly resume after spring break. Watch for further emails from the school over the next week detailing our plan. In the meantime, we are trying to gauge the technology needs of our students and families. Please fill out this short form HERE by this Monday, March 23rd. In some additional updates, state assessments have been cancelled for all students this year. Also, Crown Pointe Academy has extended the deadline to complete registration for the 2020-2021 school year to April 30th. This health crisis is beyond what any of us expected, so thank you in advance for your patience as we work through the challenges of developing a learning plan that will best meet the needs of the CPA community. We’re all still here for you and your children, and we will get through this together. If you have any questions, please let me know. School Closed March 16 to March 27

March 13, 2020 (Para español desplazar hacia abajo): Dear Crown Pointe Academy Parents and Guardians, Starting Monday, March 16th, Crown Pointe Academy will join other metro-area schools and districts in closing our facility due to the unprecedented health crisis of COVID-19.  The school will have an extended spring break, and we will be closed the weeks of March 16th-20th and March 23rd-27th. During the week of our regularly scheduled spring break, we will reassess the situation and determine when students and staff should return to the building.  If the closure should last past March 27th, we will provide online learning opportunities for students. We encourage students to take home any items they may need over the next two weeks including supplies, medications, and personal items. As of today, we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in any students or staff, nor are we aware of anyone at the school who has had contact with anyone affected.  We encourage all families to continue with recommended preventative measures such as adequate hand washing, avoiding close physical contact, and staying home if you’re not feeling well. Our priority is always to protect the health and safety of all of our students, families, and staff.  This school closure is a preventative measure to insure the continued well-being of everyone in the CPA community.  We will communicate any updates or changes as information becomes available. Please feel free to contact the front office with any questions.
