Dear Crown Pointe Academy Parents and Guardians, We are continuing to develop our four week, soft start to school running from August 17th to September 11th.  Click HERE for part 4 of our video series.  All videos are closed captioned in Spanish. If you need to stop by the school, the front office is open from 8:00-3:00 Monday through Thursday starting today. If you would like to apply for free or reduced meals at school, the application can be found HERE.  This must be done annually and should be completed as soon as possible. Return to School Planning Update – July 13

July 13, 2020 Dear Crown Pointe Academy Parents and Guardians, Thank you to everyone who has been following along with our Return to School Plans for August.  We are continuing to develop our four week, soft start to school running from August 17th to September 11th.  Click HERE for part 3 of our video series along with a health information and protocols video HERE.  These videos are closed captioned in Spanish for anyone who would like translation. We are now asking you to make a commitment for your child(ren) during the four week, soft start time period. Please complete the form HERE and select whether your child(ren) will complete school 100% online, or if you would like in person classes.  As a reminder, if you select in person classes, we will have alternating days in attendance.  You are able to note your preferred days, but we cannot make any guarantees as we will need to balance the student cohorts.   Please complete the form with your selection by this Friday, July 17th. A Message from Mr. O: Planning for the Plan We’ve all learned a lot over the last few months.  We’ve learned how to social distance,  to do without things we used to think of as necessary, and to find supplies that are in short supply.  School has been no different.  We’v e learned a lot these last few months, too: how to run an online school, how to have Google Meet lessons, and how teach from a computer screen.  Despite all we’ve learned, we still have a lot of unknowns.  When is school going to start?  What will school look like?  Is it safe for my child to be around other children?  We’ve all entered a new world and have to figure out a new plan of action. Our first adaptation to this new world was to move school online.  Now we need to plan on moving school back indoors in the fall.  Our expectation today is that we it won’t have school as usual.  At this time, we believe it is likely that we will have a model of school with multi-week “ sessions” with a maximum class size of 10.  For Crown Pointe, this type of structure would be based on the small group classes we already have, Cougar Time.   Fortunately our teachers and assistants have a great deal of experience with this class structure helping making for a smoother transition.  This new version of school will need to be flexible with the possibility of change at any moment and parents will have the opportunity to opt in to the choice that fits them best.  It is a model of school, with parent choice at the center, where parents can pick the best option for them and their child(ren).  Of course one of these choices will always be a 100% online option for those that want or need it. So in preparing for these changes, we have assembled a Return to School Committee (RSC) comprised of parents, community members, and staff.  The RSC will meet weekly over the summer and plan for the million inevitable details of such a dramatic change, i.e. cleaning regimens, class structures, lunch schedules, and a routine for temperature checks just to name a few.  The first action of the RSC will be to send out a parent survey the first week of June.  We need your input on times of day, days of the week, online vs. in person and much more.  Look for that survey invitation soon.  The RSC will also update...

Exciting news!  Crown Pointe Academy has been selected as the winner for the 2020 Best of Westminster Awards for Schools.  This award program was created to honor the achievements and positive contributions of businesses and organizations in and around Westminster. This Friday, May 15th is Screen Free Friday, and since we cannot have our regularly scheduled field day, this Friday is also Family Field Day!  Teachers will not be posting new content this Friday in order to give everyone the chance to get outside and get active.  Please see the letter and flyer from Mr. Varner on the CPA website for activities and ideas.  Contact Mr. Varner with questions. The deadline to complete registration for the 2020-2021 school year is this Thursday, April 30th.  To complete registration, please complete the following steps: Online Registration: Sign in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  From the menu on the left, select More, and then click on Online Registration.  Follow the steps to confirm your information. Complete the annual signature packet, which can be found on the homepage of the CPA website under Registration Information.  If you do not have the ability to print the packet, you can pick one up in the front vestibule of the school.  Please hold on to your packet until the office reopens. Please complete these steps no later than this Thursday, April 30th.  If you do not plan to return to CPA next year, please let us know by sending an email to sandi.macgregor@crownpointeacademy.org. The CPA staff would like everyone in the CPA community to know how much we miss you.  For a special message from the CPA staff, please click HERE. A message from Mr. O: It’s hard for kids to understand why they can’t do the things they usually do right now. They want to play, visit with friends, and even go to school. There is a real sense of loss when we lose out on those things. It’s even tough for adults to miss out on the events that we used to take for granted. So it’s with a sad heart that I announce that we’ve decided to cancel many important school events this year for the sake of public health. Events like the 8th grade continuation, Kindergarten graduation, talent show, and 3rd quarter honor roll are cancelled. They will not be made up. We will mail diplomas and certificates home when the time is appropriate. Activities that don’t require people getting together like the yearbook and class slide shows for the 8th grade and Kindergarten will be shared when complete, but we know it’s not the same as the real thing. Things that we can postpone, like the 8th grade Spanish trip, have been rescheduled. We realize it’s tough to miss out on so many things that we all look forward to, but in these times it’s the right thing to do.  Please let me know if you have any questions. After careful consideration, the Academy Board and CPA administration has decided that in-person classes will NOT resume this school year.  Students will be expected to continue with online learning through May 21, 2020.  Please know that this was not the outcome we were hoping for, and we realize that this presents many unanswered questions.  We will communicate any decisions around upcoming events (8th grade Continuation, Kindergarten Graduation, summer school, student supply and personal item pick up, etc.) as more information becomes available. As online learning continues, there are many resources available for parents and families: Our partners at the Colorado League of Charter Schools are hosting a series of webinars for parents on distance learning, which can be found HERE. Food pick up is still available through your geographic school district.  Westminster Public Schools’ food pick up information can be found HERE. If you have other questions or needs that the school can help with, please let us know by emailing your student’s teacher. Registration for the 2020-2021 school year. Step 1: Log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  From the list of tabs on the left hand side of the screen, select More; then click on Online Registration.  This will bring up your current CPA students and their grade placement for the 2020-2021 school year.  Select Begin Registration and follow the steps to update your personal information. Step 2: Print and complete the annual signature packet, which can be found HERE, or you can pick up a printed packet at the front office.  Once you have signed all of the forms, please scan and email the packet to records@crownpointeacademy.org, or you can drop your packet off at the front office. Step 3 (must be completed by August 7th): Pay your annual school fees by cash or check at the front office, or by credit card HERE.  We are opening up school fees now to allow families the opportunity to break up the beginning of school expenses.
