We hope you had a wonderful summer!  A few important reminders: Registration needs to be completed by Friday, August 3rd.  Please contact the front office with any questions. School begins for Middle School students on Monday, August 13th.  Please bring school supplies on this day. Students will receive their class schedules and locker combinations on this day as well.  There will not be regular hot lunch the first two days of Middle School. Hot lunch will be provided by the Spanish trip fundraising group.  If you did not purchase Spanish hot lunch, please send him/her with a sack lunch those two days. Elementary students will have testing by appointment on Monday, August 13th or Tuesday, August 14th.  You may bring school supplies to your testing appointment. Please contact the front office if you are unsure of your child’s testing appointment.  Elementary students’ first full day of school is Wednesday, August 15th. On Tuesday, August 14th, there will be a Back to School Night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. where parents will receive information about their child’s classroom and ways the school and family will work together.  After a 30 minute Back to School welcome in the gymnasium, there will be three 30 minute elementary sessions and five 10 minute middle school sessions.  This will allow families the opportunity to meet most of their students’ teachers.  Middle School Parents–From 7:30-8:00, there will be a middle school-specific information session in the gym.  The schedule for the evening is below: Back to School Welcome in the gymnasium: 6:00-6:30 Elementary Classroom Sessions: 6:30-7:00 Elementary Session #1, 7:00-7:30 Elementary Session # 2, 7:30-8:00 Elementary Session #3 Middle School Sessions: 6:30-6:40 Middle School Session #1, 6:40-6:50 Middle School Session #2, 6:50-7:00 Middle School Session #3, 7:00-7:10 Middle School Session #4, 7:10-7:20 Middle School Session #5 Middle School General Information Session in the Gym: 7:30-8:00 Arrival/Dismissal: Students may arrive daily at Crown Pointe as early as 7:30 a.m. Elementary students who do not wish to eat breakfast will be allowed to play outside with supervision until 7:50.  At that time, students will go to assigned locations to line up prior to going into the building at 7:55.  In case of inclement weather, students will line up in the gymnasium.  Middle School students will line up in the gymnasium after they eat breakfast (if they desire) prior to going into the building at 7:50. It’s hard to believe we have already reached the end of another school year.  Thank you for making this year a great success.  We wish all families a safe and happy summer! Do you want to avoid the rush of purchasing school supplies before school starts in August?  You can order a school supply kit specific to your student’s grade and school supply list, and it will be delivered to the school in August!  Click here:  1st Day School Supply Kit  and follow the steps to order your kit.  The deadline to order is June 15th.  See the flyer for more information, and contact the office with any questions. We still have 9 copies of this year’s standard yearbook available for purchase at the front office.  Each book is $16.50, and they are available on a first come, first served basis. Please stop by the office as soon as possible to take care of any last fines or fees owed.  Final report cards will not be released and high school records for 8th grade students will not be sent until all fines and fees are taken care of.  Contact Sandi MacGregor with any questions. Elementary Field Day is coming up this Thursday, May 17th.  Grades 3-5 will have their activities from 8:20-11:20, and grades K-2 will have their activities from 12:10-3:10.  Students must wear appropriate attire.  Please see the flyer on the CPA website for more information. Volunteer Opportunity!  Mr. Varner could use some help setting up for field day on Wednesday at 3:45.  If you’re able to help, please meet Mr. Varner in the gym after school. The CPA-PTA will be hosting a bake and snack sale during field day.  They are seeking donations of baked items.  Please bring any donations to the front office.   See the flyer on the CPA website for more information. The end of year Awards Assemblies are next Monday, May 21st.  Elementary awards will take place at 1:00, and middle school awards will take place at 2:00.  Parents of students receiving certificates will be notified by email TOMORROW. The Crown Pointe Academy Drama Club will be presenting William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Pomona High School this Saturday, May 19th at 7:00 p.m.  We are requesting a $2.00 donation per person to attend.  We hope to see you there! As a school, we have recorded 10,926 volunteer hours to date.  Please remember to record all of your volunteer hours and help us reach our volunteering goal of 14,000 hours for the year.  Demonstrating strong parental involvement can help CPA qualify for grants and other funding opportunities, so it’s important that every hour is recorded.  You can fill out the paper log and return it to the office, or you can record your hours online by sending an email to volunteer@crownpointeacademy.org.  Make sure to include your name, your student’s name, and the total hours volunteered for the month in the email.  Thank you! Please join us!  Crown Pointe Academy is hosting a Chick-fil-a Spirit Night Fundraiser on Tuesday, May 8th from 5:00-8:00 at the 104th and Federal location.  Stop by for dinner and be sure to tell the cashier that you’re with CPA so that we receive credit.  If you eat in the restaurant, make sure your student stops by the Welcome Table– the class with the highest attendance will win a Chick-fil-a party! All library books and materials must be returned by this Friday, May 11th.  Be sure you stop by the library next Wednesday–Friday, May 16th-18th for the BOGO book fair!  Contact Mrs. Strick with any questions. If you have submitted commitment hours for the year, SAVE THE DATE for our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, May 2nd.  Please plan to join us from 7:30-8:30 for a cup of coffee, tea, or juice and some delicious breakfast goodies as a “Thank You” from the Crown Pointe Academy Staff.  Come to stay for a while or just drop in to grab some breakfast on your way to work!  We recognize that so much of what we are able to accomplish as a school is due to the support we have from our parent and family volunteers.
